Circadian Rhythm

Did you know it takes 1 day per time zone change to adjust to a new country? I didn’t and have been beating myself up as to why I am not sleeping well, am fatigued and feeling off. Did a little google-goog and dang, now I realize this is totally normal. I think what threw me off is that it is normally pretty easy for me adjust to different time zones and travel… I normally sleep on planes and adjust quickly to being half way across the world (ex. Jordan, Dubai, etc). This time has been significantly different but I think it is also the emotional impact of leaving California followed by a week stop-over in Ohio before landing in Madrid.

Last night I went to my first dance class at Esencia. It was a bachata-flamenco class, taught by sweetheart Elena who decided to merge these two styles of dance after incorporating some flamenco moves into her bachata dancing while on stage dancing for Dani J. She received super positive feedback after her performance and felt when bachata music incorporated flamenco components, the song called for something a little different (think Spanish guitar, which happens to be my favorite part of most bachata songs). Elena then decided to run with this idea, to separate herself from many other bachata dancers and offer something new to the dance world. She was so impressive!! Not only a kind and lovely person but the merging of these two styles is so beautiful! I hope to be able to take more of her classes!

Checked out La Casa del Abuela across the street last night and met John Carlo, my really nice waiter. Great wine, good vibes, the best artichoke tapa with Iberico ham… yum! Excited to try their garlic gammas next time!
